Statuspage alternatives: what a public status page costs in 2026
If you only need a public page that says "we are up" or "we are having an incident", the price list of the big name looks steep next to the rest. This page compares five options using their own pricing pages.
Short answer
- Cheapest with a custom domain: UptimeRobot Solo is listed at $9 per month on annual billing (10 USD monthly), with 3 status pages and your own domain.
- Cost nothing, accept a basic page: UptimeRobot Free (1 basic status page), Instatus Starter (free, no custom domain), Better Stack Free (1 status page), or Statuspage Free (100 subscribers).
- Zero vendor, you maintain it: Upptime, which runs on GitHub Actions and GitHub Pages. Checks every 5 minutes at best.
- Paying more for Statuspage mainly makes sense if you already live in Atlassian tools. One independent-looking comparison says the same; see the note on sources.
Comparison
| Option | Free plan | First paid step (listed) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Atlassian Statuspage | Public page: 100 subscribers, 2 team members, 25 components, 2 metrics. Custom domain not listed for Free. | Hobby $29/month: 250 subscribers, 5 team members, custom domain. Then Startup $99, Business $399, Enterprise $1,499. | Monthly prices in USD. Yearly credit-card billing needs a manual order form. |
| Instatus | 15 monitors, 2-minute checks, email alerts, 200 subscribers, 5 team members, public page, no custom domain. | Pro "from $20/month" per the page title; the plan cards did not show the amounts when I read it. Adds custom domain, 30-second checks, SMS. | Yearly gives three months free per its FAQ. Free Pro for non-profits and open source on request. |
| UptimeRobot | 50 monitors, 5-minute interval, 1 basic status page. The page calls it good for personal and commercial projects. | Solo $9/month billed yearly ($10 monthly): 60-second interval, 3 status pages, own domain. Team $30, Scale $55 (yearly). | I inferred the monthly-billing figures from the page. |
| Better Stack | 10 monitors and heartbeats combined, 1 status page. Described for personal projects. | Add-ons: extra status page $15/month ($12 yearly), 50 extra monitors $25 ($21), 1,000 extra subscribers $40, white-label $250 per page. | Priced by add-on, so the total depends on what you pick. Responder seats $34 monthly. |
| Upptime (open source) | Free if you use GitHub. MIT license. | None. | Checks every 5 minutes via GitHub Actions; status page is a static site on GitHub Pages; history lives in your repo, so deleting the repo deletes it. I did not check Actions quota effects. |
How to choose
You want a branded page at status.yourdomain.com
On the listed prices, UptimeRobot Solo ($9 yearly) is the lowest entry among the hosted options here, and Statuspage Hobby ($29) is the highest. Instatus Pro starts around $20 if the page title is right. These plans differ in subscribers, alerts and team seats, so match them to your list rather than only the headline.
You want zero cost and can live with a vendor subdomain
All four hosted vendors list a free tier with one public page. Subscriber caps differ (Statuspage 100, Instatus 200, Better Stack and UptimeRobot did not state a cap on the part I read).
You are comfortable with GitHub and want no vendor
Upptime costs nothing but you own the setup, the 5-minute limit, and the upkeep. It also puts incident history in a public or private repo you control.
You already use Jira or Opsgenie
Native integrations may be worth Statuspage's price. I have not verified how deep those integrations go.
About the price complaints
I looked for user complaints about Statuspage pricing. The search returned vendor blogs and comparison sites, not forum threads. One of them (OneUptime) says $29 to $1,499 per month feels steep for a single-purpose tool. That is a competitor's opinion, so treat it as a claim, not as measured user sentiment. I did not find or read a first-hand complaint thread.
What I could not verify
- Uptime, delivery speed of notifications and support quality of any vendor.
- Instatus Pro and Business exact prices, and whether Statuspage Free allows a custom domain.
- Whether Better Stack and UptimeRobot cap subscribers on free plans.
- Pricing outside USD, taxes, and regional differences.
- Other options, including self-hosted tools such as Cachet, which I did not review.

A note from the author
I am considering building a very small status-page tool for solo developers, but nothing exists yet. There is no product, waitlist or signup on this site, and I will not collect emails here. If that ever changes, this page will say so at the top and keep the comparison as it is.
